So what do we do about all of this?

It's important too remember that people respond to incentives.

What are the incentives for competing.
• Winning
• Shooting a competition PB
• Being competitive against your peers
• Climbing the ranking list
• Making a State or National team.

The State Short Range is a hugely popular event. In 2016 it had it's biggest turnout ever with 160+ entries.
34 divisions
7 uncontested.
1 Open class had one competitor and only 1 had three.

Mens Compound had 29 competitors for the 900 round.
Top 5 gap: 8 points
Top 8 Gap: 13 points
Mens Recurve had 4 points between 2nd and 4th.

The event was also well hyped (not intentional, just happened) and a new format and new venue (oh no, change!)
It dragged people out who previously were not shooting many competitions.
